Concours d'Art Oratoire
All Grade 4 and 5 students will prepare a 2-5 minutes speech on the topic of their choice to be presented in class. Grade 4 students will participate in the Concours Oratoire only at the classroom level, as an oral French speaking project and to gain skills for next year. The 2 best speakers in grade 5 will be chosen to present their speech at the district level.
We will do some work in class on the following: public speaking, research our topic, plan our speech, small group practice and feedback. However, our time for this project is limited due to the 2 weeks of Spring Break. Using Spring Break or any extra time during evenings or weekends to do some extra research at home on the topic, and to practice the speech several times at home, will help your child in delivering an interesting and confident speech.
