We had our first library day today and students had a chance to borrow a French and an English book that interest them. There is also a small classroom library that students can pick books from. Some very popular titles are not always available at the school library (checked out already!) and I do not necessarily have them in the class library yet! Some students asked me today if we were going to do the Scholastic Reading club this year. They are eager to read, and that is fantastic!
I have opened a Scholastic Reading club account for our class yesterday, and it is my first year doing this program. What I love about this club is that it encourages students to read while helping the classroom earn FREE books that will make our classroom library more interesting.
We have not received the flyers for September, but we should get the flyers in time for the October order. However, if you want to browse the Scholastic Canada Reading Club website, you can purchase books online through the classroom account in September (without the flyer). Starting in October, you will have the choice to order through the flyer or to continue ordering online.

How to place a book order in September
For September, you will only be able to order books online. The deadline for placing an order is September 30th. Visit my Resource page to find more details on how to open a parent account, link your account to me, how to order, tips for French immersion, etc. We will also be building a class list of favorite titles in French and English (a few titles suggested already) to help you select interesting books.
Parent volunteer needed to manage the monthly orders
Have you ever been in charge of the Scholastic Book club for your child's class in a previous year and would be interested in doing it again? A parent volunteer would be a fantastic help in managing the monthly orders. Please email me if you want to volunteer for the year! Your help is greatly appreciated.

Also, remember that school is dismissed at 13:15 tomorrow. There is a school picnic starting at 5:00, and the classroom will be open from 5:30-6:30. I am looking forward to meeting you!
